14.6 Wired Register (6)
The
Wired register is a read/write register that specifies the boundary between the wired and random entries of the TLB as shown in Figure 14-6. Wired entries are fixed, nonreplaceable entries, which cannot be overwritten by a TLB write operation. Random entries can be overwritten.

The Wired register is set to 0 upon system reset. Writing this register also sets the Random register to the value of its upper bound (see Random register, above). Figure 14-7 shows the format of the Wired register; Table 14-7 describes the register fields.
